President Trump loses not because of his work as US president but the way he neglected the essential part of being a statesman. The 2020 Election has brought a question that can be answered properly by digging into the history of the United States of America.

First of all, Donald Trump loses support from his very own people, from his allies. Like people said, treat your friend as if he will one day be your enemy, and your enemy as if he will one day be your friend. Not only failed to treat his opponents well, but Trump also did worse, he attacked his dead allies, John McCain. McCain is the respected US senator and the senior politician from the Republican Party which is his ally. However, their relationship colored with different ideas on politics which led Trump to attack McCain on many occasions.

Trump said of McCain: “We’re not going to support that loser’s funeral. What the f — — are we doing that for? The guy was a f — -ing loser.”

The story between the two men should be decent since McCain gave his support to Trump in the 2016 US election, but Trump responded to this support by insulting McCain in his very next speech. McCain still supports Trump even Trump attacking him and another military veteran, McCain finally revokes his support for Trump after a series of Trump scandals has blown up to the public. Trump does not respect the patriot like McCain, and he cannot control himself to attack McCain even seven months after he died. US citizens cannot accept the way President Trump behaves whether they are Democrats or Republic or even the one who is not into politics.

Donald Trump’s disdain for John McCain costs him in Arizona since Biden taking Arizona for the Democrats for the first time in 24 years. He had a strange obsession, maybe even an irrational hatred, of one of Arizona’s favourite sons, John McCain. Until the end of his life, McCain never disparaged Trump as president. He was too loyal to a Republican. But his widow took a stand and announced her support for Joe Biden. John McCain had many great friends across the political divide which always admire him as a man. In the end, we will not ever know how many of those votes turned blue in memory of John McCain. This result will raise the questions of whether Trump finally knows the difference between a little shush or disrespect.

George Washington put the high standard to his successor on how to be a statesman, a damn good statesman”.

Second, Trump does not believe in democracy and election. He improperly sought help from Ukraine to boost his chances of re-elected by bringing Joe Biden son issue. Trump has clearly broken the law by pressuring Ukraine’s leader to dig up damaging information on a political rival. He urged his Ukrainian counterpart to investigate one of the frontrunners to take him on in the 2020 presidential election. This mattered, opposition Democrats said, because it is illegal to ask foreign entities for help in winning a US election.

Moreover, Trump refused to accept the election result long before the election started. This might sound cliché, but in the long history of modern US politics, no matter how badly the presidential candidate wants to be elected as a US president, they always honor the US constitution since democracy is the foundation of the constitution. Once, George Washington honored his country by giving freedom and democracy to all US citizens. He declined the chance to be president for life and ruled the maximum periods to hold power as US president. He put the standard to his successor on how to be a statesman, a damn good statesman. The standard that is firmly held by all his next-generation except the current president.

The US political system is well established by the balance of power from Democrats and Republicans. However, the 2020 election shows us how the system unprecedentedly works to allow decent statesmen to take place in the white house.
