The Never-Ending Battle
The epic battle between Apple and Samsung is not always positive for consumers, especially on smartphone products. Sometimes they provide new unnecessary tech for their battle even though customers do not require it. This article will give the writer’s opinion on the advantages and disadvantages of smartphone products from both companies.
When Apple released the first generation in June 2007, the iPhone became the market ruler in the flagship category, while Samsung right behind them with their Galaxy S series. The middle class and entry-level is led by Samsung, since Apple builds a reputation as a fancy brand that provides the finest quality in smartphone markets. With the iPhone series, Apple is not focusing on the middle class, and never competes in entry level or budget phones. This marketing strategy is a massive success for Apple, even though they do not always have better products in several aspects. Considering the brilliant marketing from both companies, customers may dig more information before deciding whether to choose an iPhone or Galaxy. Here several factors that need to considered before customers choose between iPhone or Galaxy, as follows:
In the Price, both products came with a similar price for equal specification. Since the S series is made by Samsung to compete with Apple in the high-end markets, they also provide great phones, with the finest material, the latest technology, and of course, the highest price in their catalog.
Customers who intend to use the phone for an extended period may consider buying an iPhone since the iPhone has a more extended operating system update period. Samsung used Android as an operating system, while Apple used its operating system, IOS. On average, Samsung only provides a maximum three years update for its flagship while Apple guarantees to provide an update at least four years, if not more.
The user interface for Instagram is better in iPhone with IOS than Samsung with Android. This fact makes sense since Instagram developers and similar apps will spend more extensive time developing their apps in IOS since a maximum of only four phone launches every year, compared with Android that has more than 20 types of phones every year. The developer would have more time to develop IOS and make sure their apps will perfectly match with every kind of iPhone. This problem happens with Samsung and other brands that use Android as operating systems, such as Huawei, Xiaomi, Oppo, and other competitors.
In several aspects, such as the camera quality, sound, LCD, and design, are based on personal taste; this article will not discuss it more since both Apple and Samsung have been providing the highest quality material for their phones. Moreover, for MacBook and apple watch users, buying an iPhone while PC and Samsung gear users were buying the Galaxy S series would make sense.
In conclusion, the iPhone would be a better choice if the customers plan to use the phone for a long time and get maximal user experience on social media such as Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat, and other platforms. Meanwhile, tech enthusiasts or customers who plan to follow the tech industry and have no problem buying a new phone in two or three years might be considering purchasing the Samsung S series to experience the latest piece of technology in excellent style.
